Scholarship

The Leading Latina Scholarship

Leading Latina, Inc. has chosen to reinvest a portion of its money into the local community by establishing the Leading Latina Scholarship. Active senior high school students in Lee and Collier County High Schools can apply for the scholarship during its application period.  


The Scholarship Committee is in charge of recommending award amounts and establishing the criteria for winners. The Leading Latina Scholarship is awarded based on criteria that is consistent with the organization's mission. 

Scholarship Criteria

 

Thank you for your interest in the Leading Latina 2021/2022 Scholarship Application! Make sure you have the following items ready in order to complete the application:


  1. FAFSA Student Aid Report
  2. Transcript - with your overall cumulative unweighted GPA highlighted
  3. One letter of recommendation
  4. Essay (350 words minimum) - see specific scholarship below for details

Spring 2022 Scholarship

Spring 2022 Scholarship

This scholarship is available for first-time-in-college or technical school students who are eligible for DACA (Deferred Action for Childhood Arrivals). Students must demonstrate significant financial need, have a grade point average of 3.0 or higher.


 Scholarship applicants may choose one of the essay prompts below for submission:  


  • Your Educational/Career Goals and Undocumented Status
  • Explain how your undocumented status has encouraged or strengthened you to pursue your educational and/or career goals


  • Overcoming Adversity
  • Describe any challenges you have experienced being undocumented, and how you will use your education/career to overcome these challenges.

Spring 2022 Scholarship

This scholarship is open to Lee County High school seniors heading to post secondary education in the Fall of 2022 or Spring of 2023.  Students attending college or a technical/vocational programs will receive a $1,000 scholarship.


Applications are open from January 24, 2022 through April 8, 2022 at 5:00 p.m. 


There are four (4) $1,000 scholarships available.
